Heinrich Lübke, a native of the Sauerland and second President of the Federal Republic, made the beautiful Sauerland region famous far beyond its borders. Just like our brand-name meat from Olpe: Held in high estimation, today it is in demand all over Germany.
The following is an outline our main milestones …

1909 Founding of the abattoir:

The Olpe Municipal Abattoir was established as a public institution. Butchers from all over the district carried out their slaughtering here.

1971 Founding year:

The master butcher Artur Otto acquired the abattoir jointly with the merchants Rudolf Binkhoff and Hermann Wiesner. The company "Binkhoff, Wiesner, Otto Fleischmarkt Olpe OHG" was established on 8 December.

1971 - 1975 Modernisation:

The 60-year-old abattoir was renovated in compliance with regulatory and hygienic requirements. Sales increased, an ever increasing number of skilled workers were employed, and the company maintained its own fleet of vehicles.

1987 Re-construction:

Because of rising sales and the growing number of employees, the shareholders decided to re-build the abattoir and butchery facilities: A 2,000-square-metre facility was designed to optimize workflows in the future. The Fleischmarkt Olpe obtained EU approval.

1998 Expansion of operations:

The company invested in the latest machinery to meet the increasing demand for self-service products. This allowed the processing to be optimized and improved to meet the latest standards.

2003 New shareholders:

The previous owners Rudolf Binkhoff and Artur Otto withdrew from the business for reasons of age and sold the company. Management of the company was taken over by the brothers Peter and Heiner Manten as the new shareholders of Fleischmarkt Olpe GmbH, a status they already held at the company MANTEN Qualitätsfleisch vom Niederrhein GmbH & Co. KG.

2007 Certifications:

We attained certification for the slaughter and butchering of organic cattle. We also fulfilled the guidelines of the "International Food Standards" (IFS certified).

2011 A big jubilee party:

40 Years of Fleischmarkt Olpe – together with the founders, employees and longtime supporters, the company celebrated the 40th anniversary on December 2011.
